What are the Studio Awards?
Studio awards are brand new achievement awards that are based solely within your dance school/pre-school/movement classes, giving students a chance to achieve awards and progress through the levels without the stress of exam situations. These awards are aimed towards all children/teenagers who take part in fitness, dance, drama and performing arts.
These achievements are set out as levels and are not age based, they are based on the ability of the student.

We like to help all students in performing arts to achieve their full potential, where they are destined to be on the stage or simply for personal development. Children from a young age should have their achievements recognised and that is where we come in.
Unlike the conventional examinations, our Studio awards are exactly what they say on the box, awards within your studio. No need for external examiners to be brought in or for high fees for parents.
Achievements are run either during an achievement session or during normal class hours. They will be assessed by the student’s normal teacher/the teacher who has passed the assessment criteria course. All criteria set out in the specific discipline level must be met for the student to gain the achievement. Once passed the student will gain a medal or trophy (based on the level they are at) and a certificate.

Being a teacher of 14 years I know what makes a student tick and what makes a student anxious. A regulated examination can really put students off wanting to attend lessons, thinking that they HAVE to do exam sessions in order to keep attending classes.
I believe that we can keep hold of these students and even reward their successes by running Studio Awards within their normal settings, with their normal teachers AND give them an award for their hard work. This will give them the sense of achievement and prowess that their confidence needs.
Students will not have to worry about impressing an external examiner in exam conditions as I know first-hand that they panic more about having to dance in front of someone they have never met, rather than being able to relax and perform better in front of their normal teacher.
